VALOR COMBAT SYSTEMS STRUCTURE
Our students are encouraged to focus on individual growth, working towards personal goals at a pace that suits their ability and development. Progress is recognised through our structured Belt System, with each achievement marked by a new belt colour. Students learn that every belt is earned through dedication, discipline and hard work - helping to build confidence, self-esteem and motivation.
Each technique is carefully broken down into manageable stages to support gradual learning and understanding. Through consistent practice and repetition, students develop co-ordination, spatial awareness, fluid movement and technical ability.
We place strong emphasis on self-control, concentration and respect - particularly when working with training partners (uke). This not only improves focus and teamwork but also helps students develop important social and communication skills.
Our classes also include healthy competitive elements, teaching students the value of taking turns, showing empathy, handling setbacks positively and demonstrating resilience - all essential qualities for building a strong character both inside and outside the Dojo.
We offer a range of structured syllabuses designed to support different age groups and abilities: -
• Mini Samurai: Valor Ju Jitsu and Mini Raion: Valor Precision Combat (Ages 5-6)
• Junior Samurai: Valor Ju Jitsu and Junior Raion: Valor Precision Combat (Ages 7-15)
• Adult Classes (Ages 16+)
While the Mini and Junior Samurai/Raion programmes are age-based, progression is ultimately determined by each student’s understanding, co-ordination and physical ability. Every student is individually assessed by their Sensei (Club Coach) to ensure they are ready to advance safely and confidently through the syllabus.
Grading System and Progression
A Grading is a practical assessment of a student's Martial Arts skills. To progress to the next level and achieve a new belt, students are required to successfully pass a Grading (examination).
All beginners start with a White Belt before advancing through our structured Grading System of coloured belts. The Mini Samurai and Mini Raion follow a slightly different path - they wear White Belts with coloured stripes to signify progress.
When a student is considered proficient, their Sensei will invite them to Grade through a formal letter presentation within their class.
Grading examinations are held every four months; however, eligibility is based on consistent training, technical ability, effort and overall progress as assessed by the Sensei.
All Martial Arts styles within Valor Combat Systems follow a structured belt progression system, consisting of the following: -
